Denver & Colorado Tourism Industry Hall of Fame

John Denver will be posthumously inducted into the Denver & Colorado Tourism Industry Hall of Fame at a dinner Wednesday, March 14, 2012.

The 13th annual gala at the Denver Performing Arts Complex will also feature the induction of Cherry Creek Shopping Center leader Nick LeMasters, Colorado Restaurant Association executive Peter Meersman and Brewers Association president Charlie Papazian.

Tourism Star awards will be presented to the USA Pro Cycling Challenge and the Clyfford Still Museum, as well as an award shared by Denver International Airport and Icelandair to recognize their efforts in bringing or attracting tourists to Colorado during the past year.

The goal of the Denver & Colorado Tourism Hall of Fame Dinner and Silent Auction is to honor Denver’s top leaders in the tourism and convention industry and also to raise funds for the VISIT DENVER Foundation, which underwrites scholarships for students pursuing degrees in the hospitality industry.

Induction to the Denver & Colorado Tourism Hall of Fame is the highest award given by Denver’s travel industry, honoring outstanding individuals who have played a significant role in making Denver and Colorado world-class convention and tourism destinations. Tourism Star awards are presented to organizations and attractions that had a significant impact on Denver’s tourism industry during the year.
