John Denver’s Estate Introduces First-Ever Signature Custom Ski By Icelantic

The estate of legendary singer and songwriter John Denver is proud to team up with Colorado-based ski company Icelantic to launch the first-ever John Denver signature custom ski.

Icelantic is an independent ski company founded, manufactured and based in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Denver’s music is part of the company’s soundtrack, and the new collaboration perfectly reflects their shared passion for skiing, art, adventure, creativity and innovation. Icelantic also has strong ties to the Colorado music community and one of Denver’s favorite venues; the ski company will soon announce the second annual “Winter on the Rocks,” the only show ever held during winter at Colorado’s famous Red Rocks Amphitheater.

The John Denver signature ski will be Icelantic’s Nomad model, offered in three different lengths. The Nomad is a one-ski quiver. Able to tackle any and every snow condition, at ease among ridges and peaks, and eager to carve up any terrain, the Nomad is an exceptional tool of versatility. Its shapely curves and balanced flex give the Nomad remarkable stability, superb maneuverability and explosive power. If you favor a bit of everything and want a ski that can handle anything, The Nomad is the ski for you!

The artist behind the John Denver ski design is PARR, Icelantic’s signature artist. PARR’s process involves first painting his subject, then adapting the painting to incorporate some of Icleantic’s signature elements, and in this case the “JD snowflake” logo. PARR says, “Art is…the process or product of deliberately and creatively arranging elements in a way that appeals to the senses and emotions.”

Denver was well known during the 1980s for his gatherings of the rich and famous at John Denver’s Celebrity Ski Classic at Heavenly Resort in Lake Tahoe. Extremely popular with spectators and millions of TV viewers across the country, the event served as a huge promotional vehicle for the sport of skiing for ten years, as well as a fundraiser for Denver’s favorite charities.

Today, Denver’s status as a cultural icon stands undiminished. His popularity and continuing influence on popular culture more than a decade after his untimely death in 1997 is remarkable. The new signature skis stand as tribute to the legacy of a national treasure.
