The first of a weekly series of fan stories is up on the My John Denver Story site. Read the first story:

“I may be only 28, but John Denver’s music changed my life. I was twelve years old when I discovered a cassette tape of John’s music that belonged to my mother. The first song on the tape was his cover of “Thirsty Boots”. I used to lie in bed, rewinding the tape and listening to that song over and over and over. It was unlike anything I’d ever experienced with music – his voice, so tender and passionate, seemed to reach right through the headphones and speak directly to me. It brought me to tears. I listened to the tape until it broke; many times, I got in trouble for listening to it under the covers when I was supposed to be asleep…” (more)
